Dr Atta Ur Rehman, as a keynote speaker, highlighted the global challenge of malnutrition and shared the latest evidence-based statistics and updates in the seminar. He also emphasised on how important is the role of nutrition in patient treatment. The event was organised by Chief Organizer, Respected Dr Rizwana Muzaffar – Principal RLMC, Ms Moha Akram – Lecturer & Focal Person – RLMC and Dr Wajeeha Nasir – Chief Coordinator SIGNS International & Focal Person of ASPEN-SIGNS Malnutrition Awareness Campaign. Our honourable delegates including Mr. Intekhab Ahmad Ex- National player of Pakistan Cricket Team, Dr. Rana Basharat Chief Dietitian (Retd.), Lahore General Hospital & Mr. Naeem Zafar Kasuri – Dietitian, Lahore General Hospital graced the event with their worthy presence. Students and Faculty from the Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Rashid Latif Medical College Lahore attended the seminar.

Seminar on Malnutrition Awareness at Abasyn University Islamabad and Meeting for Collaboration

A seminar held at Abasyn University Islamabad was a significant milestone in the ongoing joint Malnutrition Awareness campaign conducted by SIGNS and ASPEN. This event aimed at spreading awareness about malnutrition among the students and faculty of the university.

Dr. Atta-Ur-Rehman Khan, a prominent figure in the field of nutrition, delivered an enlightening session on strategies to combat malnutrition. His comprehensive presentation addressed the various aspects of malnutrition and offered insights into effective countermeasures.

Dietitian Ammar Awan contributed to the seminar by focusing on the promotion and significance of evidence-based practices in the field of nutrition. He also provided valuable guidance on what it takes to be a proficient dietitian.

During this event, a cake-cutting ceremony marked the celebration of World Food Day, underlining the importance of nutrition in our lives.

We extend our gratitude to the management of Abasyn University, with special thanks to Ms. Sehrish Parveen, Lecturer, and Program Coordinator of the HND department, and Dr. Amjad Mehmood, Executive Director of Abasyn University, for their warm hospitality and support. Discussions regarding a potential collaboration between SIGNS and Abasyn University for the professional development of students were also explored, further fostering the mission to combat malnutrition and to promote evidence-based practices.
